Medaius supports virtual care delivery through integrated Telehealth video consultations. This guide explains how to start virtual calls, share invite links with patients, and use the clinical helper tools during online consultations.

Setting Up Virtual Clinic Rooms

To host telehealth sessions:

  1. Ensure your practitioner profile has Telehealth enabled.
  2. The system automatically assigns a secure, dedicated virtual room URL to your profile.
  3. You can set your availability slots in the calendar to specifically accept "Telehealth Visits," indicating to front-desk staff or online booking systems that these are virtual appointments.

Launching a Telehealth Call

When it is time for a virtual appointment:

  1. Open the appointment details from the Calendar or Encounter Dashboard.
  2. Click Start Telehealth Room.
  3. The video workspace will launch directly inside your browser:
    • Camera & Mic: Grant permission for your browser to use your camera and microphone.
    • Device Checks: Select your preferred camera, microphone, and speaker sources in the settings panel.
  4. Click Join Call.

Patients do not need to download external applications (like Zoom or Teams) to join calls. They can join directly from their phone or computer browser:

  • Automatic Invite: If the patient's contact info is registered, Medaius automatically sends a secure email or SMS notification containing the meeting link 10 minutes before the scheduled time.
  • Manual Share: Inside the telehealth panel, click Copy Invite Link and send it directly to the patient via your clinic's chat or messaging channels.

In-Call Clinical Features

While on the call, practitioners have a split-screen dashboard layout:

1. Split-Screen Documentation

Your video call occupies one side of the screen, and the patient's Draft Encounter Note (SOAP) occupies the other side. This enables you to document findings in real-time without losing eye contact with the patient.

2. Screen Sharing

Click the Share Screen icon in the video bar to share slides, educational materials, or external test results directly with the patient.

3. File Attachments & Chat

Use the built-in text chat to type messages or send resources. You can also drag and drop documents (e.g., patient prescriptions or follow-up instruction leaflets) directly into the chat for the patient to download immediately.

Ambient AI Scribe during Virtual Calls

You can use the AI Ambient Scribe for virtual consultations exactly as you would for in-person visits:

  1. Once both you and the patient join the room, click Enable AI Scribe in the documentation sidebar.
  2. The scribe will record the call audio in real-time.
  3. When the consultation ends, click Generate SOAP Note.
  4. The system will compile a structured Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan (SOAP) draft note from the conversation transcripts for your approval.
